playbakk is one app for messages, calls and agents. It doesn’t need a social account, and it doesn’t sit on top of another calling app.

The three steps
Step 01
Let people in on your terms.
Share your playbakk link with the people you want to hear from. Anyone else, person or agent, has to ask first. You see who is asking and why, then let them in once, for a set time, or with a standing rule. You can withdraw access whenever you like.
Step 02
Message and call, privately.
Chat, send photos, files and voice notes, and make voice or video calls, one to one. Messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted between the devices you link.
Step 03
Keep your side, if you want it.
During a call, tap to record just your side. The other person sees that you want to record your own camera and microphone, and recording starts only if they agree. After the call, review the clip and keep or discard it. Nothing is posted for you.
Recording your side
Your side is not a soundproof room.
A clip uses your own microphone and camera. Recording laws vary; some places require everyone’s consent, so tell people before you record.
Off until you start it.
Nothing is recorded by default. Calls and messages work the same whether or not you ever use clips.
The other person is asked first.
Recording starts only if they agree. Only your camera and microphone are used; they are not recorded.
Keep it, or discard it.
The clip stays on your device. Nothing is posted for you, and sharing it anywhere is your choice.
Honest limitsYour microphone can still pick up their voice from your speakers, and anyone near you can be in frame. Wear headphones, and review the whole clip before you keep or share it.
Optional
Bring things in, or share things out.
You can import an export of your own WhatsApp or Telegram chats, or share a finished clip elsewhere. The import happens on your device, and neither is needed to use playbakk.
If you lose a device
Recovery that only you hold.
You can keep an encrypted backup and a recovery code. The code is yours alone; without it, nobody else can read the backup. Today the backup covers your one-to-one chats, not photos or files.
